Aromatherapy Massage
Aromatherapy massage combines gentle, flowing massage with essential oils selected around how you are feeling on the day. Alex trained in massage with an aromatherapy specialism more than twenty years ago, and every session begins with a proper conversation about pressure, preferences, aromas you love (or don’t) and anything you would like her to know.

What happens during your appointment
- A short, friendly consultation about how you are feeling, your preferences and anything Alex should be aware of.
- Together you choose the oils for your session. Alex will talk you through the aromas and why she suggests them.
- Your massage is unhurried and shaped around you: pressure, focus areas and quiet (or chat) are all your choice.
- Time to come round gently afterwards. No one is rushed out of the door.
Who tends to enjoy it
- Anyone who feels they have been running on empty and wants a proper pause.
- People who enjoy massage but would like something softer and more sensory than a sports treatment.
- Complete beginners. Alex is very happy to explain everything as she goes.
What to wear and bring
- Wear whatever is comfortable. You will have privacy to undress to your own comfort level, and you are covered with towels throughout apart from the area being worked on.
- There is nothing you need to bring. Just yourself.
Before you come
- Try not to eat a heavy meal in the hour or two beforehand.
- Drink some water before and after your treatment.
- If you can, allow yourself a little quiet time afterwards rather than dashing straight back into a busy day.
Safety and things to mention
- Please mention any medical conditions, allergies, skin conditions or medication when you book. Some essential oils are not suitable for everyone, and Alex will always choose safely around you.
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, let Alex know before booking so she can advise whether treatment is appropriate.
- Massage is not carried out over broken skin, recent injuries or areas of infection.
Common questions
Do I choose the oils, or does Alex?
It’s a conversation. Alex will suggest oils based on how you’re feeling and what you tell her, but you’ll smell everything first and your nose gets the final vote. If you dislike an aroma, it doesn’t go anywhere near your treatment.
Will the massage be painful or very deep?
No. Aromatherapy massage uses flowing, rhythmic strokes rather than deep pressure. That said, the pressure is always adjusted to you, so say if you’d like it firmer or softer at any point.
I have sensitive skin or allergies. Can I still come?
Very often, yes. Just tell Alex when you book. Oils are chosen carefully around allergies and skin conditions, and there are plenty of gentle options. If something isn’t safe for you, Alex will say so honestly.
How will I feel afterwards?
Most people feel deeply relaxed, sometimes pleasantly sleepy. It’s worth planning a quiet evening rather than anything demanding, and drinking a little more water than usual.
Can essential oils cure health conditions?
No, and you should be wary of anyone who says otherwise. Aromatherapy massage is a complementary therapy created to encourage rest and relaxation. It sits alongside proper medical care, never in place of it.
